The stream of Guardiola drains a quite large basin in the southwest of Bages district and partly in Anoia, with main area around the town of Sant Salvador de Guardiola, boundaries in Castellfollit del Boix plateau and in Sant Pau de la Guàrdia range, and outfall into the Cardener river in Els Torrents, within the municipality of Castellgalí.
Like the stream of Rajadell further north, the final stretch of the Guardiola stream, where it is also known as stream of Cornet stream after this large farmhouse, flows through the light-coloured, fossiliferous, marine-origin Eocene rocks –limestone, mudstone, and sandstone– of variable consistency with several tough rock layers that are prone to create waterfalls and pools of clear water, meanwhile the valley turns in meanders with a steep outer slope and a flat inner one. In this final stretch, the stream of Guardiola or Cornet appears young as just born in a rough landscape before reaching the river Cardener.
