The river Cardener flood, as seen from the Pont Vell in Manresa on the afternoon of 12.07.2025. The river is raging wild with a turbulent flow of muddy water, carrying logs, reeds, and many other things. The river spans the full width of the lock, from the wall that supports the C-1411b road to the arrival of Sant Ignasi stream, when usually jumps just by the lower central section of the lock. The Sant Ignasi stream also contributes with an extraordinary flow. The nummulitic limestone stratum that supports the Pont Vell is flooded in two-thirds of its large surface on the right bank that has parallel cracks, and completely on the left bank that has potholes.
At midday of July 12, 2025, a dana event swept with heavy rain almost all Catalonia. The rain was especially intense in the middle basins of the Cardener and Llobregat rivers. Manresa registered 55 liters/m2. In Súria, the Hortons stream swept 3 imprudent cars from Cal Trist to the river Cardener. According to data from automatic stations, the peak flow in the Llobregat river reached 134 m3/second in Balsareny and, later and further downstream, 153 m3/second in Castellbell i el Vilar.
