The last stretch of the stream of Rajadell

The join of several small streams in Sant Pere Sallavinera, in the district of Anoia, gives birth to the stream of Rajadell. Once it achieves the condition of stream of Rajadell it enters to the district of Bages going east for about 25 km with few twists and turns, crossing Aguilar de Segarra, Castellar, Rajadell, Monistrolet and the Manresa neighbourhood of El Xup, to end into the Cardener river at Can Poc Oli. In its final stretch, past from El Xup and in one of the most beloved areas of the Green Belt of Manresa, the stream of Rajadell flows on a substrate of hard, fossiliferous, pale grey rocks of marine origin while it digs a steep and rocky relief. Their two largest and most emblematic pools the stream of Rajadell are in this stretch: Les Escaletes and Els Esparvers. Nevertheless, it is not just these two points of interest, the stream sculpts a beautiful natural landscape throughout all this stretch.

The images sequentially show three points of the stream displaying a significant flow after a rainy season: the 1st photo corresponds to the rock esplanade between the pools of Les Escaletes and Els Esparvers, the 2nd photo between the pool of Els Esparvers and the passage towards the slope of L’Agneta and the ice well, and the 3rd photo in Can Poc Oli, at the passage to cross the stream on foot that links the itinerary of the Green Belt of Manresa M2 – La riera de Rajadell with those named M4 – Del Cardener al Llobregat and M9 – Els Comtals i la serra de Montlleó, and with the PR C-130 trail.
