The conglomerate rock provides several natural refuges in Sant Llorenç del Munt i l’Obac and in Montserrat. The Puig de la Balma is a troglodytic house that takes advantage of a big rock shelter in the Natural Park of Sant Llorenç del Munt i l’Obac, in Mura. The Puig de la Balma is inhabited at least from the XII century onwards. Nowadays it offers additional rooms for agro-tourism. Most of the rock shelters, like Puig de la Balma or Els Òbits in Sant Llorenç del Munt, have been inhabited either permanently or temporarily.
