Ichnites in Cardona

In the mountain of the castle of Cardona, the rocks lay in slope because the diapir. A small landslide discovered several ichnites or fossil footprints on the surface of a red sandstone next to the road. Their outline is not really good, though their regular alignment allows to recognize them. At least the footprints of a bird can be identified and also a lot of footprints of a heavier mammal with 3 toes.

The sandstone from continental origin was laid about 30 million years ago, in the Oligocene period.
