Deep river meanders are frequent in Bages district. The picture displays the meander of river Llobregat in Les Marcetes (Manresa). The origin is a process known as epigenesis. The current deep, flanked by rock cliffs, course of the valley comes from self-intensifying river meanders that once were free bends on a large floodplain or bank over the actual surface.
The picture was taken in 23 May 2010, from top of cliff of Roca Tinyosa. This section of river Llobregat draws the boundary between Manresa and El Pont de Vilomara i Rocafort municipalities.
